This was floating around on my desktop in a comment sticky. Thought I'd stick it here for future use. SPACE QUIDDITCH. That is all.

BOOK IDEA:
WRITE A ROMANCE NOVEL WITH PROTAG AND ROMANTIC INTEREST BOTH ASEXUAL (SENSUALISTS BUT WITH NO INTEREST IN INTERCOURSE, BUT STILL ALL IN WITH CUDDLING, HOLDING HANDS, KISSING, AND MASSAGING). THERE SHOULD BE REPRESENTATION FOR ALL PATCHES IN THE QUILTBAG

A fantasy / light sci fi short story set in the Biodome Sports Complex floating in orbit above the Earth. Space debris is collecting by roving "sharks" named so since they are always swimming, always "eating" the debris - which is then delivered and recycled into other stuff.

Basis of the Biodome Sports Complex is that sports loving fanatics were what finally drove us into space, after watching astronauts on the ISS play some random games, including Quidditch, in free fall. This sparks a revolution in demand for the space elevator to be fully designed and built (so the fans could watch live in the stadium as tradition dictates, as well as remotely via the netboxes).

Netboxes were the natural result of the merging of data surfing, web content streaming, cloud storage of entertainment, and cable/network television. They're more like netscreen films since they've gotten so thin...

All water use on planet is sustainable thru the use of collectors, cisterns, greywater use, and distributed, onsite, filtration/cleaning of water when used.

Power is also distributed with generation via multiple means localized with each house/living unit with send/receive automatically handled so that net generators balance with net utlizers. Power generation means include spray on solar, nano wind wirligigs, pressure (when you walk across your floor, you are sending that energy into the integrated system), etc.

The protag and love interest - maybe one of them works in the Biodome Sports Complex, maybe one of them is a Quidditch player, maybe a fan, maybe a systems operator, etc. Not sure yet.

Will need to create a believable (show, don't tell - much) universe around them, one that supports them and the main storyline of their meeting, falling, almost losing, and culminating in a potential happily ever after.

Do any of you writer folk think it matters if I keep my shoebox full of writing ideas here? I'm going to do it, unless I hear otherwise.

Was just texting with a friend across the pond and got asked as to whether I or DH lost a pair of reading glasses when we stayed with them this past summer. My reply was:

Nope. Neither of us uses them. Maybe you had that new kind of burglar, doesn't take anything but the knowledge from your books.

This got me to thinking. And by thinking, I mean: "OH MY, GREAT SPAGHETTI MONSTER I FEEL A FULLY FORMED STORY TRYING TO CRACK MY HEAD OPEN IN AN EGG-LIKE MANNER AND HOLY WORDSMITH ON HIGH WHAT THE HELL?!"

So let me get the bare bones of this bird out of my head before it pierces my brain and makes me unable to function at work later. Because I have to be able to do the math and report writing that THEY need me to do while there.
To watch me as I conduct this bonectomy, you'll have to dig deeper. )

Was that amorphous and do you now feel like you've awoken from a weird, but cool, dreamscape-based alternate reality? That's how I feel now, after writing it. Off to get ready to face the days challenges. *swings off ship via rope to the bathhouse adjacent to the dock*
