We got the power back on! And the Cable/Internet too! What a wacky day, six and a half hours ago, the lights in (only) the bedrooms and bathrooms went out which knocked out the internet too... The fridge and garbage disposal were hit too I figured out, as we tried the breakers. Turned on the TV to check it, still had a signal... Then POOF, the cable was gone... Fifteen minutes later the rest of the power in the apartment goes out. The hallways only have emergency lighting, etc. Fortunately I had called when there was still just a partial outage, so techs from both companies were already on scene. The whole complex was out. They dug up the underground cable & had tower trucks on the poles...

What a trip. Got to finally check out that Margaritas in East Hartford though - and that was great.

I take it you've tried this then? :D

I was amazed at how tasty a margarita can be with one of the more expensive tequilas (S. ordered it for me when I turned a confused look his way upon being asked which tequila I wanted).

Maybe we get together and talk Serentiy over some drinks? Would you like to meet S.? (He's a haxor & photography ho; [livejournal.com profile] crabbyolbastard and I think that you'd get along, IRL)

I may have a line on someone I recently met who might want to join in on some of your games - I'm pretty sure he's into RPG's but unsure if it is specifically some type of game. (excuse my ignorance, but, D&D is an RPG, yes?) Went out to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] surelle and her s/o. The s/o is the one I'm referring to. He expressed interest when I said I knew of a few people who play around here - they are somewhat recent transplants.

Oh god, I'm in PA right now so I can't check on the power. Do you know if the whole block was out? I'm worrying about the cats because I left the A/C on for them, but if the power went out and it's not back on... :(

Gonna call our building manager right now.

I believe it only affected the building I'm in - although I am not completely sure. When I listened to the update recording on the CL&P voicemail system it specifically mentions only 185 P. Street so I think you're okay.

Besides the power went back on around 8pm, and whatever was "on" before the power went out, went back on after the power came back. Either way you are all set. Yesterday was the coolest so far this week. Partly cloudy and all.

Too bad you are in PA, there is some sort of block party going on here - and a food fest on the green in East Hartford. I'm hitting the first today, and the second tomorrow.

How is PA?

**phew** I was having a small heart attack for awhile there! We live on the 3rd floor so it gets hot easily, but I did leave out extra water so I think they will be OK.

I'm sorry to be missing all of this good stuff. PA is good; our fannish friends are having their annual summer party and right now I need to run in order to get my omelet :D

Sorry you find the book difficult, it seems like you are not the only one...

and re coffee, does Thursday night sound good to you?

I think the book is difficult because it offends my "western feminist sentiments." Otherwise, I do find it well written, lots of imagery and metaphor, etc. Also, it is a portrait of life back around WWII. I've read worse (more repressive or violent) tales from behind the veil. I appreciate that it stretches my mind and forces me to contemplate strict Muslim seclusion/morals/values, etc.

Oh, am I supposed to save this for the book night get together?
::sheepish grin::

Thursday night sounds great, let me know when to meet you there.

Enjoy your omelet!
