The other night was some sort of LSD trip from Hell. My SO and I went on a foray to the Jorgensen Theater for a night of folk music. Little did I know when I got the tickets that the majority of the audience would be in their 80's, (one almost knocking S. on his ass to get to the wine bar) that I would be subjected to a woman sitting behind me singing of-key through the whole thing (while clapping twice as fast as everyone else in counterpoint) and for the (excuse me) old biddy next to me to rub a Werther's wrapper between her fingers the whole time... At the first I should have known bad things were afoot - we "accidentally" arrived an hour before the show was to start, there was stale crackers and tasteless cheese, we had to drink our bottle of wine in its entirety before we would be allowed into our seats (because someone had recently dropped sponge cake from the balcony on some other old biddy's head) and the alcohol didn't help, lemme tell ya. The first two bands were decent - actually pretty good in some spots. The first was Chuck Yarborough (who is 75 now) and the second was The Brothers Four. They had me tapping my foot, despite above mentioned bothersome details. The final band, the one who is supposed to be the highlight of the evening, well, it is a kindness to say that they were terrible. Awful, horrendous, hideous noise with no verve or pep. They were The Kingston Trio. If you ever have a chance to see/hear them, don't bother. The SO was lucky, he at least had young, enthusiastic music students sitting next to him.

On a lighter note - I finally got a paid account and fiddled around some more with my settings... Including uploading a bunch more icons. Yay! I can be more expressive now! I was thinking of switching my style to something paid-only accounts can access but... Meh, I like what I have so I may not bother. We shall see.

And now... Off to watch an old Hepburn movie (Katherine that is): The Philadelphia Story
