The problem is that when peer reviewed articles and studies aren't actually reviewed and then that information is disseminated to people who are programmed to trust and believe that information.

Like the recent diminishment of United Airlines stock because of an old article being mislabeled as recent news. A lot of people got hurt because that story got picked up by various economic/stock reporting agencies.

When people release information for their own aggrandizement or for profit - to purposely push their own pet theories while disregarding the actual effect of that theory on the normal person's life... That is a mental illness that needs to be addressed.
