Split Pea Soup
Nov. 2nd, 2006 08:53 pmSo... All comments about myself not being able to or liking to cook should be revoked as of now. Considering the fabulous job I did making a pot of Split Pea Soup... I did good. I started out with one of those dried soups in a cellophane (very low impact) packaging with just the peas and some other stuff in it, not so much in the flavoring department. I added some leftover pork loin, cut into small pieces, as well as two different packets of Sazon Goya (one Con Azafran and the other Sin Achiote) and some freshly ground pepper. I ended up bringing it to a boil and then simmered it for an hour. I had to add at least a cup of water at the end because it had simmered off a great deal of the water I had started with. And I put more water into the leftovers because it had thickened even more so I get to have it as a yummy lunch tomorrow.
W00T!
*dances around the kitchen*
Tomorrow I get the ingredients for another couple of soups - one being a nice, thick and hearty corn chowder and the other being a shrimp/kielbasa & chicken gumbo. Yum. I'm actually starting to feel more excited about getting balanced meals together and not doing the typical "what do you want" back and forth crappola. When that happens hours go by, we (the CoB and I) both get cranky, and no food gets made until late late at night. And lemme tell ya, the CoB gets SUPER crabby when he doesn't get fed regularly. *smirk*
Damn, now I feel like baking.
*imagines the Who's celebrating*
All hail the mighty tasty Split Pea Soup! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!
Ahhh, pretty good Smallville, and now: Bring on the CSI! WASH from Firefly is in this episode!!!111
