I have to say that last night was the best night's sleep I've had in a while. No tossing and turning, no waking up a few times through the night... Ahhhh. And I had wicked cool dreams in an anime style. It was great! Strangely, it had some of the items and circumstances from for recent series of dreams (that were worrying) but from a different perspective that was adventursome and a positive outcome to the various "storylines." All hail the mighty Ambien!

I am recovering nicely from the poison ivy (who knows where I got it from cause I didn't go walking in the woods) after going to the doctor office yesterday and getting prednisone and some super strong anti itch cream. Ahhhhhh. Before that I was sleeping almost constantly hopped up on benadryl pills and trying a variety of ointments and stuff for the itchy skinn issues.

In other news, I tried a new catfood with the crankiest of the bunch (Loki) 9 Lives Salmon & Crab... oh my! Crack open the can: "meow meow meow meow" let him lick the cover: "lick lick lick" put it in his bowl: "scarf scarf." SUCCESS!

Well, we ([livejournal.com profile] crabbyolbastard and I) went to Petsmart after hanging out reading at Starbucks for a while... we were only supposed to get some fish food at first. Then we saw George. If you've been reading COB then you know that we have been watching the two seasons of Dead Like Me after getting exposed to it on Sci-Fi channel. If you've seen at least the first one, you have been introduced to the "toad" that originally kept Pandora's box. (A frog that should never have been allowed to hold it was the one who opened it.) Later, in the second season, the "toad" is given to George's sister, and she named it J.F. - Just Frog. However, we named it George after the main character named Georgia Lass.

Here is a good site with general information about the type of frog that we got - a Pacman Frog. Though ours is an albino, like the one in the above mentioned show.

This is what zi looked like two weeks ago... see COB's site later for actual pics of George.

This is what a adult sized George may look like, in about a year from now.

And this is another awesome picture taken of an Albino Pacman Frog.

It took about a half hour or so to set up zi's tank, wet mulch covered by damp moss, with a heater pad stuck to the bottom of the tank and a thermometer and hydrometer on the inside. Zi's got a curved bit of hollowed out former log for a hiding place and a good sized plasrock drinking flat (very shallow but large enough for a wade through). We'll feed him once a day (in the AM like the store has been) an assortment of big crickets, meal worms and wax worms as well as keep it a nice wet and warm environment. Yes, we actually had to set up a little environment (separate and not visible to George) for the crickets, although the meal worms can go in the fridge and the wax worms are all set in their plastic container.

OH! COB is thinking of setting up the webcam again, this time for George... What say you?

Hmmmn, methinks I'll be asking for my first icon to be made over at icondoit!

P.S. For those of you who aren't used to the use of zi, it is a non-gendered reference to George (like him, her, and it) because zi could be either or - or able to change from one to the other for all we know - and I wanted to. Heh.

CoB found two more interesting links about George, apparently zi is a type of Horned Frog which is great, because CoB likes to say that he is (or ACTUALLY IS, excuse me)Satan. Hrmmm. Coincidence? I think NOT.

The Wikipedia link.

The other link.

The first is set up like a wiki entry usually is, the second is a more detailed site (really) with lots of internal links filled with interesting info, which has had CoB "hmmm-ing" a lot while he browses it sitting next to me. Yeah, right now.

So now we have a fish (the Oscar) and a frog from South America.

Here is my reply to one of the comments:

Look what I found! Maybe we should pester some people... and link to the info on our own blogs, and err, spread the damned word!

Swedish Covenant Hospital is an institution of the Evangelical Covenant Church found here. And this is their email address, which they list as a way to talk to them about issues and such that the public (in general) may use: webster@covchurch.org

Mark Newton has served as president and chief executive officer of Swedish Covenant Hospital since 2000. We could call general information (773-878-8200) and either put a message through to him or complain directly to the poor help desk receptionist... For TTY use: 773.907.3044

On the "Quality, Ethics and Personal Safety" page they say this:
you may contact the hospital's Guest Relations Liaison at Ext. 3828, or (773) 989-3828 from off campus. Staff members will work with you and your family to resolve your concern and take appropriate action as necessary.

Could write a snail mail post to:

Swedish Covenant Hospital
5145 N. California
Chicago, IL 60625

Here is a listing of contact information, pretty much departmental phone numbers. Community Relations: 773.878.1304
and, Public Relations: 773.989.3812
(should those two be separate? is one like for the press and the other for everyone else? wtf?!)
